Heliostat drives are critical to tower power plant efficiency. In a tower CSP plant, tens of thousands of heliostats concentrate solar radiation on a heat absorber at the end of the heat absorption tower to collect high temperature and collect heat. In order to ensure continuous and stable collection of heat, the heliostat should track the position of the sun at all times, and move in the horizontal azimuth and pitch directions (dual-axis) through the transmission device.

Common transmission components of tower heliostats---Rotary reducer

At present, the most common transmission component in the heliostat system is the device called the rotary reducer as shown in the figure below. The rotary reducer is generally driven by a motor to drive the rotation of the heliostat in the biaxial direction. As a kind of precision machinery, the application of the rotary reducer in the solar thermal power generation industry needs to control the tracking accuracy within 1mrad. The double-enveloping worm gear has a large meshing area with the tooth surface, higher transmission precision, and strong impact resistance. Its low wear rate can ensure the accuracy and life under long-term use conditions, and is more suitable for the northwest region where the domestic CSP station is located. harsh environment.

In the tower power station, the driving components in the horizontal orientation mostly use the rotary reducer, but the pitch angle can choose the push rod or the rotary reducer.
