Trina Achieves 24.58 Percent Efficiency For Mono PV Cells
Trina Solar has set a new world record of 24.58 percent in China for a highly efficient monocrystalline n-type silicon i-TOPCon solar cell.
The bifacial cell was fabricated on a large 244.62 cm 2 wafer using a low-cost industrial process using advanced Industrial Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (i-TOPCon) technologies. It has a front boron emitter and a backside full-surface passivating contact. The bifacial solar cell achieved a total front side efficiency of 24.58% without using a special shutter during exposure. This result was independently confirmed by ISFH CalTeC in Germany. The new efficiency world record was achieved at Trina Solar's in-house research laboratory, the State Key Lab for PV Science and Technology.
"We are very pleased to announce the latest results from our research team at SKL PVST. As far as we are aware, this is the new world record for the total area efficiency of a large-area bifacial contact silicon solar cell, "said Jifan Gao, CEO of Trina Solar.
